Plans for dozens of homes for Alton and its surrounding villages have been discussed by councillors.
Before a meeting of East Hampshire District Council’s north planning committee last Thursday, 15 homes in Boyneswood Road, Medstead were given the seal of approval by planning councillors.
In Froyle, a further two blocks of four apartments were al
so given the green light by the committee on the condition that developers Local Homes Ltd provided enough open space in the area.
However, planners haven’t had it all their way. One development in Alton for 14 homes has been dismissed and a further plan for 10 homes in Four Marks is currently being considered by a government inspector after being refused by EHDC.
The plans for ten homes at Pine Ridge, 15 Lymington Bottom Road, Four Marks, are being decided by a planning appeal.
The plans include eight three-bedroomed houses and two two-bedroomed flats.
The dismissed Alton development would have seen 14 homes built on Butts Road on what planners described as “a vacant eyesore in a predominantly residential area.”
However, the government inspector who refused the proposal by Elstream Enterprises Ltd, said the developers did not provide enough public open space with the plans.
In his report he wrote: “Other considerations do not outweigh this requirement.”
Those hoping to comment on the Four Marks proposal should write to the Planning Inspectorate by June 29.
