HORNDEAN had a mixed week in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division after a win and a defeat in the last week.

The Deans started their week with an impressive 2-0 victory at Lymington Town last Tuesday night (February 28).

Jack Maloney and Sam Smart scored the goals that gave the Deans the three points.

The Five Heads Park outfit were brought crashing back down to earth though when they lost 4-1 at high-flying Portland United on Saturday afternoon.

The Deans led 1-0 at half time at the Weyline Stadium thanks to Maloney’s penalty.

Darren Watts equalised for Portland in the second half, and Ryan McKechnie then stabbed home from close range to give the home side the lead.

McKechnie scored his second of the match to give Portland a 3-1 lead, and Watts completed the scoring when he chipped the ball into the goal.
