THE 2017 Hampshire ASA County Championships were held over three weekends.

Alton and District Swimming Club sent its biggest ever team of 49 swimmers to compete across the full range of individual and relay events in all age groups.

The first weekend of long-course (50m pool) events at the Mountbatten Centre saw some good performances, big personal bests and two medals: bronze for Lottie Jackson in the Age 12 400m Individual Medley and silver for Katie Pengilley in the Age 13 800m Freestyle.

The action moved to Waterlooville for the second weekend of short-course individual events. Lottie Jackson (12) won silver in both the 100m and 200m Butterfly, and Mia Spencer (14) won bronze at 100m and 200m Backstroke, both in new club record times.

The final weekend saw the older swimmers competing at the Mountbatten Centre.

Ella Hamilton (15) won gold at 200m Breaststroke and bronze over the 100m distance, setting new club records. Ben Williams (15) won bronze at 50m Butterfly, and Jess Cross (16) won gold in her age group for 50m Butterfly and silver at 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley, the latter two in club record times. Rebecca Alder (16) won gold at 100m Backstroke and silver over 200m, setting new club records in both events. Club captain Naomi Van Dongen (17 and over) produced a clean sweep of gold medals at all three breaststroke distances, and Joe Massey (17 and over) won bronze at 100m Butterfly in a club record time.
