SPRING was in full bloom at the first flower show of the year in Greatham.
Peter Catt won two cups at the show, winning the Sir Arundel Neave Cup for flowers and the Spring Show Cup and best in show.
Derek Summers won the Eric Siney Shield for photography, Rebecca Dowling won the Nightingale Cup for floral arrangement, and Andrea Basterfield won the Maggie Joyce Cup for painting.
The children’s cup for most points for those under nine years old went to Daisy Smiley, and the cup for those between nine and 12 years old went to Beatrix Smiley.
The best exhibit for those under nine years old went to Keiran Hubert-Price, and for those between nine and 12 years old it was won by Rhonni Matthews.
Show secretary Sue Marriott said: “The show committee was very pleased with the entries, which were up on last year, and the attendance in the afternoon.
“Tea and cakes were much enjoyed and lots of chat, exchanging tips and ideas about gardens and gardening.
“Entries from two classes at Greatham school made a lovely display of Easter cards and spring poems.”
