Petersfield running club to help ‘Make May Purple’

By Post in Athletics

A WOMEN’S running club in Petersfield is inviting residents to join them on a 5km run at Petersfield Heath this Saturday to help Make May Purple.

The Runnyhoneys were created to help women in the area enjoy running and get active.

For the past three years the club has supported the Stroke Association’s national awareness month Make May Purple.

Runnyhoneys leader Sue Browne said: “We all agreed that raising money for charity would help keep us motivated throughout the year, and the Stroke Association is a cause that’s close to all our hearts.

“Knowing that the funds we’ll raise will help other families affected by strokes will spur us on across the finish line.

“We’re calling out to the local community to come and join us on the day. Each year we dig out all our purple gear and have lots of fun.

“We hope to see as many residents as possible sign up to help us turn the Heath purple.”

Saturday’s 5km run at Petersfield Heath is sponsored by The Sports Locker.
