HUNDREDS of mountain bikers brought pedal power to Queen Elizabeth Country Park at the weekend.

The annual Cyclefest, on Saturday and Sunday, gave enthusiasts the chance to try out 130 top brand adult and children’s bike, ranging in price from £500 to £5,000.

“It the ultimate ‘try before you buy’ experience,” enthused Matt Treviss, marketing manager with Hargroves Cycles of Southampton, which organises the event.

Around 600 people took to the mountain bike trails in the country park, one of which involves a 1,000 ft climb, to test the mean machines from brands including Cube, Scott, Cannondale, Santa Cruz, Trek and Specialised.

There were endurance races too and a skills course for younger riders.

The trails are maintained by a group of mountain bikers called the QECP Trail Collective, who help Hargroves with?Cyclefest.
