By Post in Other Sports

PETERSFIELD Triathlon Club had three members of the club competing at an ironman in Austria on Sunday.

Nick Anderson finished the event in a time of 11hr 41min, Roy Matthews finished the ironman in a time of 11hr 36min and Barry Bridges finished in a time 13hr 47min.

The race had 120,000 spectators along a beautiful Austrian course.

The swim took place in the Worthersee Lake and the final kilometre funnelled all 3,500 competitors down a canal to the first transition.

Two laps of the 90km bike course and 1,650m of climbing took in some beautiful scenery.

The run course was flat and ideal, although the Petersfield competitors had to battle adversity of some kind to get through it, with blisters, gastric issues and fatigue all setting in by then.

Nick, Roy and Barry were delighted to get to the end and complete the race.

The day finished with hours of partying waiting for the final finishers to arrive.
