Petersfield Table Tennis club enjoys a successful season

By Post in Racquet Sports

PETERSFIELD Table Tennis Club had a very successful winter season in the Haslemere and District Table Tennis Association League, winning one division and coming second in the other two.

The club caters for senior and junior players and has a very popular club night at The Petersfield School from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on Monday evenings.

Anyone is welcome to come along to have a go, whether they are interested in starting with the sport or are perhaps returning after a break, and it is not a requirement to play league table tennis to be a member.

With the top players enjoying league success some of them are also planning on entering some national grand prix tournaments to test themselves against the best in the country.

At the club’s annual general meeting secretary Tony Smith said: “Considering the club was only formed a little over two years ago and this is only our second season in the league, these results are remarkable and very satisfying.

“It was clear that there was a need for a new club in Petersfield and it is encouraging that we have been able to attract and keep good players at the club.”

The club is looking at improving its facilities and is open to sponsorship opportunities. Anyone who may be interested in supporting the club and the players should phone Tony on 01730 816401.
