The latest round of public consultation over eco town status in Whitehill and Bordon has come to an end and the two winners of the prize draw have been announced.
Rodney Freeman from Whitehill and Bordon, and Julie Buse from Liss Forest, each won a £100 Tesco gift card.
Now this round of consultation has finished, the next stage will be the announcement – which is likely to be in July – to reveal whether the town has been designated as an eco town.
Mrs Buse (52), has lived in the area for 22 years, has worked as a medical secretary and walks her dog in some of Whitehill Bordon's green spaces.
She said: "I think the plans for Bordon will be good for the town.
"Some people will always panic when houses are built, but I think it will be an improvement in the long run."
She added: "It will be good as long as the infrastructure is put in place and the green spaces are protected.
"I would like to shop in the town if there were better shops and facilities –and we could really do with a cinema in the area, as the closest one is in Alton."
Rodney Freeman (69), has lived in the town for 18 months.
A retired design draftsman, he said: "I chose to live in Whitehill Bordon because it was somewhere I could afford, and I wanted to be near my family."
He added: "It would be fantastic if the town could look prettier, but that houses were still affordable.
"I think the council's plans are very good, but a pre-requisite must be that the transport issues are sorted out."
And he commented: "For me, everything hinges on transportation.
"It is well known that when the military leaves the town, there will be more need for employment, otherwise people will have to travel out of the town.
"Youngsters are the future – and a green and pleasant town for them would be fantastic."
Ian Dowdle, district councillor for Whitehill (Pinewood), said: "I am pleased that so many residents took the time and effort to tell us what they thought.
"Their ideas and comments have all been fed back to the masterplanners and they are currently working on a draft plan for the town.
"This will be unveiled in the autumn and that is when we will be having another round of consultation, where we will be trying to get as many views as possible."
Cllr Dowdle said there was still further consultation to come and the masterplanners would be returning to the town with what are seen as preferred options for the town's future, accompanied with more technical information from the ongoing studies.
