Police chiefs in East Hampshire have welcomed tough new alcohol rules for towns and villages across the district.
Officers have new powers to confiscate alcohol from people who are seen drinking in public places after East Hampshire District Council introduced designated public place orders yesterday (Tuesday).
The orders will cover specific areas and roads where there have previously been problems and they are designed to crack down on anti-social behaviour and drunken rowdiness.Anyone found drinking in any of the designated areas could face a fine or arrest.
Information about the order and a map of the areas covered can be found at www.easthants.gov.uk
