These pictures show the impressive talents of members of Blackmoor & Whitehill WI, who displayed their work of beautiful cards, jewellery, sewing, painting – and even woodwork – at their recent meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Lynn Battersby Vogt, who stood in for Carol Fisher, who was attending the WI annual general meeting at The Royal Albert Hall.

The speaker was Mrs Katherine Minchin, who talked about her life in Saudi Arabia as she accompanied her husband when he took up a post as a dental surgeon in the Kingdom.

She said conditions were so bad, that water had to be brought in daily by tankers and patients bringing in their families to care for them had to supply their own food kettles and burners to cook on.

Relatives stayed under the patients' beds - along with cockroaches, which, Mrs Minchin said: "had a ball."

Following the WI's fun day, the cake stall raised £82.

Flower of the Month was won by Marilyn Lenox with her delphinium.

A trip to Butser Ancient Farm is planned for this Friday (June 26), along with skittles and darts evenings being arranged.

The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month in Whitehill Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm and new members are always welcome.
