PORTSMOUTH HISPANIC SOCIETY: It will be music in the air at the society's final meeting of the 07-08 session when member Josie Wheeler presents a programme entitled 'The sound of my Spain, past and present.'
Josie, a mathematics teacher in the area, once lived in Gibraltar and the evening will provide a personal view of life and music in Spain as she has experienced it.

The evening will conclude with the society's brief annual general meeting.

The meeting venue on June 5 is the Fratton Community Centre, Trafalgar
Place, Fratton - the society's regular meeting place for some 10 years.

The event starts at 7pm and the programme provides opportunity for informal conversation and light refreshments at nominal cost.

Society members pay an £8 annual subscription to attend meetings, generally occurring on the first Thursday evening of each month. Visitors pay £1.50 per meeting.

The society, which also offers Spanish language classes for beginners and holidaymakers, is now in its 51st year and is thought to be the oldest of its kind in Britain.

For more information contact society chairman Phillip Adams on 023 9247 6448 or log-on to: www.spanishportsmouth.org.uk for the full session programme.
