PETERSFIELD AND DISTRICT PHILATELIC SOCIETY: 'Pond Life' was the introduction to Members' Night at the May meeting of Petersfield and District Philatelic Society.
This was a new venture from Ron Wood and had been prepared as an entry into an inter-society competition organised by Ferndown and West Moors Club.

Members responded to an invitation to display and speak on their exhibit and those who participated
were Eric Goffe (early GB postal history) and John Leathes (German and US submarines from World War One).

Tony New paid tribute to the group's late auction secretary, George Turner, by showing a selection of Austrian stamps and an impressive range of postcards of Longmoor, Bordon, Grayshott and Headley were put on view by Steve Hickman.

Other contributors were: Chris May (Leeward Islands), Tom Norgate (GB control numbers), Tony Shaw (Aland Islands) and Brian Marshall (GB booklets and postcards of the pepper growing industry in Sarawak).

David Allen closed the evening with a selection of postcards of the Petersfield area and ended with a deltiological 'Pub crawl.'

Farnham and District Philatelic Society members will be the visitors to the Community Centre on Monday, June 2 (7.30pm).

New members always welcome. For details call 01730 264518.
