PETERSFIELD WI: Petersfield WI's May programme dealt with two Resolutions: 'A Ban on Bottom Trawling' and 'Inappropriate Imprisonment for the non-criminal.'

These were presented by Jean Stokoe and Ronnie Trenchard. Pros and cons of the respective resolutions took some time this year and a lively discussion ensued, followed by voting for or against the resolutions.

The swimming group meets once a month at the Taro Centre and Jenny Bird had received a certificate for swimming 40 lengths in aid of the Rosemary Foundation.

Three other WI members took part with her and a considerable amount of sponsorship money had been collected for this event.

Janet Nielsen donated items of stationery for sale, the money collecting being put towards Associated Country Women Worldwide.

A marvellous display of knitted garments for premature babies were on show at the meeting and these will be presented to St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth.

The institute meets on the second Wednesday in each month at St Lawrence's Hall at 2pm. Visitors always welcome.
