Yet another eclectic line up is in store at next month's Acoustix at the Square Brewery on Wednesday, July 23 at 8pm.
Portsmouth-based folk songwriter Chris Ricketts won Best Folk/Roots Act at the 2007 News Guide awards. He is heavily influenced by artists such as Martyn Joseph, Show of Hands and Seth Lakeman, to name a few. Chris is lucky enough to have supported several high profile folk artists at venues in the south in the past, including Martin Carthy and Martin Simpson.

James Blake is a singer-songwriter living and working in Guildford, but the former Plymouth man's acoustic tunes still have that Devon sunshine about them. He says his music is influenced by James Taylor, Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, but there is a definite blues groove to it too.

James Tippins and Hayley Harland will also be performing. James Tippins is also from Portsmouth and worked in many local bands as a drummer before writing and recording his own material. Among his influences are the Calling, Bryan Adams and Pearl Jam.

Emerging songwriter Hayley Harland's influences include Lily Allen, Jamie T, Jack Penate and the Mystery Jets.

Entry is free.
