Music and laughter should be filling the air in Alton's Public Gardens again this summer, as the full line-up of this year's entertainments is confirmed.
Lined up in a programme which Alton Town Council hope includes something to please everyone, are Bagshot Concert Band, Cactus Brass and Alton's very own Concert Orchestra performing at the town's second open-air Last Night of the Proms. The interdeno
minational Praise and Picnic in the Park also returns by popular demand.
Mums get an hour off every Friday afternoon for six weeks from late July and through August when, once again, an entertainer will be captivating young audiences from 2-3pm with a puppet, magic or clown show.
Teddy Bears return for a picnic, following last year's debut and local toy store, Little Bundles is again kindly sponsoring the competition to find the best cuddly teddy.
Councillor Roger Fitzer, chairman of the council's recreation committee, said: "The gardens, which get better every year, really are at their very best when full of people enjoying events in the summer. The town council is delighted to organise some of the events themselves and support others who wish to do so. If any musical group would like to perform in the bandstand, they would be most welcome and should contact the Town Hall."
Refreshments continue to be provided by Coffee Ape. Full programme details are available from the Town Hall or on-line: www.altonevents.co.uk
