The newly-renamed band Mike TV, formerly known as Pickled Dick, will be performing at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on Thursday, July 24 to launch their new album.
The band is now a four-piece with the addition of Rich on guitar and vocals.

The brand new, self-titled album, produced and recorded by underground producer Peter Miles (King Blues / Sonic Boom Six / Tonight Is Goodbye), is being released through
London-based Banquet Records, and will be available to buy at all Mike TV shows from July 24, and hitting shelves nationwide from September.

The first video from the album, for the song 'Favourite Foe' can be seen online.

The band will be holding an album launch party on July 24 at the Wedgewood Rooms. Support comes from JB Conspiracy, Mr. Kamikaze and Big Topp.

Tickets are £5 in advance and are available from the Wedgwood Rooms box office on 02392 863 911, www.wedgewood-rooms.co.uk or www.miketv.bigcartel.com.

Mike TV has just finished supporting Philadelphia's Zolof The Rock & Roll Destroyer throughout May and California's Army of Freshmen on dates of their first headline tour of the UK in June.

Next, they will be opening for Israel's Useless I.D at the start of July and seminal L.A. punks The Dickies (UK and Germany) in August, as well as playing all over Ireland themselves.

Band member Jhon Cosgrove said: "We decided to change our name for a few reasons! Mainly because Pickled Dick is a very bad name for a band. Although it's memorable and to some humorous, the connotations of the name were holding us back! It's hard for anyone in the music industry to take you even slightly seriously with a comedy name. It's really rubbish that no one could mention our name even on local radio, so we are taking some positive action in the name of progress!

"We chose the name Mike TV, as we felt it was still a catchy, fun and even cartoony name. It was also the only name we also agreed on! In a strange twist of fate, Domb (lead vocalist and bassist) used to work in a chocolate factory and is also a big fan of television."

Mike TV members mainly hail from East Hampshire and are well-known around Petersfield.

Jhon said: "We are all from the surrounding areas of Petersfield except our drummer Riff who is from Wolverhampton. Domb is from Liphook, Rich from Haslemere and I am from Liss. I went to school at Churcher's College many years ago now!

"We have also played in Petersfield many times and played at Butserfest last year. Our families also live around here, as do all our friends.

"It's great that Petersfield and the surrounding areas now have lots more more live music and I hope we can be part of it for years to come! We just need an all-ages venue in the local area, which would be encourage all the younger local bands. A positive and thriving local music scene is good for everyone!"

Jhon describes the band's music as: "a mix of early Green Day, with some Weezer and the vocal stylings of the Beach Boys and the riffs of Vallenbrosa.
