Tickets are on sale earlier than usual for two SOCS concerts in Petersfield.
Elizabeth Gotto explained: "There has been a great deal of interest both far and wide for both the Lieder Recital given by Wolfgang Holzmair and Russell Ryan at the Olivier Theatre, Bedales and the Japanese Taiko Drumming at Petersfield Festival Hall."

Wolfgang Holzmair will be at Bedales Oliver Theatre on September 27 at 7.30pm, performing Die Schöne Müllerin.

Mrs Gotto said: "Wolfgang Holzmair is one of the most distinguished lieder singers of his generation. He studied in Austria at Vöklabruck and the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna. He has the most beautiful baritone voice and his interpretation of Die Schöne Müllerin is magic."

All seats unreserved at £15 will be available from Saturday June 14 (children under 16 and bona fide students half price). There are 20 £3 tickets for students up to 18. Tickets are on sale from One Tree Books, 7 Lavant Street, Petersfield, Hants, GU32 3EL, on 01730 261199 and by post with a SAE. Cheques should be made payable to SOCS.

Joji Hirota and the Taiko Drummers, seen recently on the Jools Holland show, will be at the Festival Hall on October 21, assuming that the hall is up and running again after the recent fire.

Taiko is a Japanese word for drums. Joji has toured extensively throughout Europe, Mexico, Canada, the USA, South America and Japan. He has worked with theatre and dance groups including the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has performed at the Edinburgh Festival and won many awards for his performances and compositions. One such composition, played by himself and his drummers plus 100 backup drummers opened the 'Live Earth Concert' at Wembley in July 2007 which was broadcast by the BBC and transmitted worldwide.

The concert begins at 7.30pm in Petersfield Festival Hall. Tickets, priced £8, go on sale from Saturday, June 14. Children under 16 and bona fide students are admitted half price. There are also 20 £3 tickets for students up to 18 available.

Tickets are on sale from One Tree Books, 7 Lavant Street, Petersfield, Hants, GU32 3EL, on 01730 261199 and by post with a SAE. Cheques should be made payable to SOCS.
