The Petersfield Food Festival is a key date in the diary for many of the district's food producers.
While the monthly farmers markets in the town centre are very popular, the food festival brings in more than 10,000 people in one day and with that comes the chance to show off your products to people who may not be market regulars.

In these troub
led financial times, for food producers to be able to market themselves in front of that many people in one day is a vital opportunity to ensure their continued success.

It is also a chance for the public to find how they can buy their food locally and help to support their local farmers and food producers.

Alex Handford of Hampshire Farmers Markets, who organises the monthly markets in The Square, believes not only will Sunday be a chance for local producers to see their regular customers but it will prove to be a vital day for securing new custom.

She said: "The food festival is very important to local food producers as with so many people expected in the town centre it opens them up to a new customer base.

"It is also a chance for people to spend money which will stay in the local economy, which will help the producers and also boost local employment.

"Farmers and owners of small holdings have seen food production as an opportunity and they have been utilizing more and more land they have not been using.
