Horror links to sleepy village are explained
What’s the link between a tranquil Hampshire village and one of the most notorious horror films ever made ?
The answer is Boris Karloff - and residents of Bramshott and Liphook will be able to find out more at a special event at the Millennium Centre next Monday, October 8 at 7.30pm.
Karloff, best known for his role in the 1931 film version of Frankenstein, lived for many years at Roundabout, a cottage just across the road from St Mary’s Church at Bramshott, until his death in 1969.
His daughter Sara and author Stephen Jacobs, who wrote the best selling biography More Than a Monster, will both be talking and answering questions from the audience at next Monday’s special event in aid of the Friends of St Mary’s (FOSM) which needs to raise more than £50,000 towards the cost of roof repairs. There will also be a screening of Frankenstein.
Earlier in the day, Sara Karloff will be visiting her father’s old home and the church, where she will be greeted by a peal of bells.
Tickets for ‘Boris Karloff, the Man and the Monster’, are £15, available from the Millennium Centre on 01428 723889 or Liphook Church Centre on 01428 725390.
