Liss Band has made an appeal for new bass players as it approaches its busiest time of the year.
The band is due to play at a number of local events over the next few weeks – but urgently needs to replace the musicians it has lost.
"We need E flat and B flat bass players to join us," said band chairman Ashley Kemp.
"It's unusual to lose th
ree players of the same instrument at about the same time, but in our case one has retired, one has had a baby and another has just had a hip replacement operation.
"We need musicians who have reached minimum Grade Four, or have equivalent experience.
"Alternatively, anyone who isn't quite up to that standard would be very welcome to join our training section with a view to coming into the band later.
"And we are always very pleased to hear from players of any other instruments who would like to join us. We have a membership of over 30 at the moment, but we certainly wouldn't turn anyone away."
Band practice nights are held at the Evangelical Hall in Forest Road, Liss Forest, from 7-9.15pm on Wednesdays.
More details are available on the website lissband.co.uk or from Ashley on 0797 7037952.
Meanwhile, the band has just recorded its second CD – which is due to be released this winter.
A variety of music was recorded during a session at Chichester University last month.
"Our first CD, which we recorded a few years ago was called Blissful Brass, but we haven't yet got a title for this one – if anyone has any ideas we would love to hear from them," said Ashley.
Among the solo performers on the CD is euphonium player Hannah Platt, who has just taken her A levels at Alton College and will be taking up a place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in September.
The band played at Greatham village fun day last Saturday, and is due to perform at the Flying Bull in Rake on July 9 from 7-8pm and at the steam rally at the Spread Eagle, West Liss, on the weekend of July 12-13.
