CLANFIELD resident Florence Elizabeth Oldham celebrated her 100th birthday with children from Clanfield Primary School.

Rather than birthday gifts, Mrs Oldham, of Swallow Court in East Meon Lane, asked that donations be made to the school, and the youngsters were invited along to join her celebrations.

The day before that, the well-travelled pensioner meet her two children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren at Portsmouth’s Hilton Hotel for a family celebration.

Granddaughter Karen Gooch said: “She has had a very interesting life, attending suffragette meetings as a girl, surviving two world wars, and she is a very sprightly lady and super company.”
