POLICE in Petersfield are appealing for witnesses after a shopper lost £650 after her bag was snatched.
The cash was stolen from a 21-year-old woman's handbag in the town on Tuesday, April 8, between 2pm and 3pm. The bag had been left on top of a pushchair.
PC Mick Hurst, of Petersfield police station, said: "This was a rare occurrence and one that happened while a number of other shoppers would have been around.
"We would urge anyone who witnessed this incident to contact police as soon as possible.
"We remind people to take care while shopping and not leave valuables unattended in their trolleys or pushchairs.
"It only takes a second in a busy shop or shopping centre for a thief to take advantage of this sort of situation.
"Don't let yourself become a victim of crime."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact PC Mick Hurst at Petersfield police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
