This is the moment motorists and residents around East Hampshire have been waiting decades for – work on the A3 tunnel is finally under way.
Our picture shows a Liebherr 944 tunnel excavator starting the boring work during a special ceremony.
It means in three years time, Hindhead traffic jams will become a thing of the past.
