AN Alresford author has launched her sixth book during a special event at a Petersfield bookshop.
Eve Phillips signed copies of Return to Falcon Field at One Tree Books in Lavant Street, this month. The romantic novel is set in her favourite period – the Second World War.

Eve said: "My inspiration for the book came during a tour of the New Forest, and from the discovery of the many abandoned airfields with memorials erected to both the RAF and USSAC air crews who flew from them during the Second World War.

"Many books are begun when a writer's attention is caught by a phrase or place or situation and they think 'what if.' My 'what if' was what if a pilot came back here after 20 years and began to dig into his past?"

Return to Falcon Field follows the story of cynical and woman-wary former US pilot Ryan Petersen, who returns to swinging 1960s London, 20 years after the war.

He soon finds himself caught between two women, although he has a hidden agenda – to find the woman with whom he had a passionate wartime affair.

Ryan returns to the New Forest, where he begins a bitter-sweet journey into the past.

Eve began her serious writing career later in life, first with a number of prize- winning short stories before she attempted a novel. All Eve's six books are available from One Tree Books in Lavant Street, Laurence Oxley's in Alresford or via Amazon. Or contact Eve directly on 01962 734322 or via www.EvePhillipsFineWW2Books.com
