A Petersfield rocker intends to celebrate 50 years of playing live by igniting a night of nostalgia.
Singer Bryan Frost (66), of Steep Nursing Home, is returning to play at the Petersfield Festival Hall on August 1, half-a-century after he first stepped on to the stage there as a teenager.
Bryan now has motor neurone disease, a condition which means he can no longer use his arms and legs.
However, it has not prevented him from singing with his band The Ravons, and he will join them on stage in his wheelchair to sing some classic hits from the 1950s and '60s.
Bryan said: "I have been playing in bands around the Petersfield area for the last 50 years and this is a bit of a 50th anniversary.
"So we are trying to get all the people that were around at the time to come along.
"We will be doing all the old ones – it is just from the '50s and '60s.
"There will be a bit of a Buddy Holly theme to it because it is also the 50th anniversary of his death."
Bryan was born in Sheet and first began singing publicly in the church choir at the age of seven.
He formed his first rock 'n' roll group while at a Petersfield youth club from homemade instruments, before making his debut at the Festival Hall in 1959 as a 16-year-old.
He said: "When we play it will be almost 50 years to the day we played the Festival Hall.
"We were 16 years old and we hired the hall to raise money for Petersfield swimming pool, because at the time it was being built and was funded by the people of Petersfield. We raised £35 which was quite a lot of money in those days."
The band's success set Bryan up for a long career performing across southern England, with many highlights.
He said: "The biggest one we ever done was in Ryde at the Isle of Wight.
"That was in 1975 when there was a rock 'n' roll festival on. There was about 350 people there, all dressed in the teddy boy suits and the drainpipe trousers.
"It was one of the most fantastic times we ever had. They thought we were from Peterborough and not Petersfield, and treated us like we were total rock 'n' roll stars that night."
Bryan will perform with the latest line up of the Ravons, which features Jez Shipton on lead guitar, John Muleady on drums, Mike Sheridan on keyboards and guitar and Dave Warner on bass. Support comes from The Trevor John Band.
Tickets cost £10 and a bar will be open throughout the evening. They are available on the door or from Between The Lines gift shop, in Swan Street, Petersfield.
Doors open at 8.15pm and all proceeds will go towards motor neurone disease charities.
