VISITORS to the Festivities have given the event a big thumbs up.
Kate Jackson, who was visiting with her family from Chichester on Monday, said: “What a fantastic event. This is a lovely market town and events like this make it really worthwhile visiting.”
Thomas Evans, of Petersfield, said it was lovely to be able to walk down the road to enjoy the event.
He added: “It just goes to show what can be done in Petersfield. The Festivities are great, and closing off the High Street and The Square has definitely worked.”
Andrew and Elizabeth Culridge, came down to Petersfield for the day from Alton. “There’s a great atmosphere here,” said Andrew.
“Parts of Alton are pedestrianised and it’s a very popular town centre. Petersfield could be a suitable place to do the same.”
Darren Burny, of Liss, was enjoying the festivities with his children Katie and Jack.
“They just love the bouncy castle and there’s some good stores here. We quite often struggle to find things to do for the kids on the Bank Holiday so this is brilliant – and it’s free.”
Jamie Smith, of Buriton, said: “I listened to the bands on Saturday and they were really rocking the place.
“It’s good to have something to do in Petersfield in the evenings. And the Festivities seem really popular and have shown what can be achieved.”
Tanya Keeping, of West Meon, said: “I’ve bought a few nice things and have had a good time.
“It’s a shame that some of the shops wern’t open but there is a fantastic atmosphere here.”
Rachel and Tim Cullen, of London Road, Horndean, said the Festivities had really made their weekend. “It is really thriving and busy,” said Rachel.
“I think there is definitely scope for these sort of events to happen here in the future.
“We often visit Petersfield on market days and this is probably as busy as we have seen it.”
