THE Petersfield School crowned its first ever 'Masterchef' last week.
Students simmered and stir-fried their way through two rounds of heats to decide the three finalists in the competition, which was based on the popular BBC TV show.
And it was Year 8 pupil Rosie Opio who came out on top, beating Year 8 student George Daniels and Year 9 contestant Tom Best in the grand final.
The three finalists had to produce a main meal and a dessert of their own choice to be prepared and cooked in one hour 15 minutes.
Chair of governors Julian Starmer-Smith, head teacher Nigel Poole and Annie Jones chef Steve Ranson, judged the food.
Rosie's main course of salmon parcels and peaches with marzipan, lime and dark chocolate for dessert tantalised their taste buds enough to give her the victory.
Comments for her meal included: "Presentation was excellent – a nice light summer dish" and "salmon parcels an absolute winner".
All three finalists are getting a free cooking lesson at the Annie Jones restaurant in Lavant Street as a prize.
