Plenty to be happy about at Churcher's

Sharp showers and cloudy skies did not detract from the whoops and cries from students at Churcher's College as they found out their A level results.
The rain held off just long enough for the anxious pupils to receive their results, although some students had to take a swift run and pick them up as strong winds snatched them out of their hands and blew them across the playing fields.
The Petersfield school has had a record year for results. Headmaster Simon Williams said: “There can be no doubt that this year’s A level students are jumping off from the highest rungs of this ladder.
“An astonishing 53.9 per cent of all exams were A grade; more than 80 per cent at A and B grades and everyone passed everything. Once again, it is a record year for results for us.
“Many of those who will be celebrating are just off the plane yesterday (last Wednesday) from a marathon five week expedition across India, including conquering a Himalayan peak. What a celebration to return to; and what extraordinarily accomplished individuals we have, moving on from Churcher’s to the next stage in their lives. They have my deepest admiration and congratulations.”
Daisy Kemp was delighted with her results, having gained four A’s in physics, chemistry, biology and maths – and she is set to train as a doctor.
“I was very scared when I went to open the envelope, but I am so pleased with what I have got,” she said.
Her mum, Rosemary, said: “I am so very pleased and proud for her. She has worked so hard and it has all been worthwhile.”
Aly Lines was “over the moon” after finding he had received four As in Spanish, French, Latin and mathematics. “I think I will be going out to celebrate with my friends tonight,” he grinned.
