Rogate School has passed an examination by Ofsted inspectors with flying colours.
Inspectors were particularly impressed with the school’s effective, well-organised curriculum which is delivered to the foundation stage children at the school.
Teaching was said to be good, while lessons are well-planned and aimed at developing c
hildren’s understanding of the world as well as their literacy, numeracy and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
There are good opportunities for creative and physical development through linked topic work and access to equipment. The classroom is very well resourced.
Headteacher Jenny Chapman said: “What has been known by pupils, parents, staff and governors for a long time has now been recognised officially by an excellent Ofsted inspection.”
The inspector said pupils at Rogate enjoy an “outstanding” education and added that standards of behaviour and attendance are also outstanding.
The report said Rogate is a good school where standards are above average and pupils of all abilities make good progress because they are taught well.
Children say they feel very safe at the school and they enjoy the wonderful and very extensive grounds.
These have been landscaped and equipped to make them exciting places to spend break and lunchtimes.
The outside areas also provide additional spaces for learning about the environment, taking exercise or being involved in purposeful play activities.
