East Hampshire Conservatives have adopted Damian Hinds as their candidate at the next general election, following the announcement from Michael Mates, MP that he intends to retire.
Mr Hinds (37) achieved a first class honours degree at Oxford, where he was also elected as President of the Oxford Union. He then went on to spend ten years in strategy, marketing and e-commerce in the hotel and travel business.
"My first priorities," he said "are to meet many more people around the area and hear what they want from politics and politicians; and to help in securing a very strong result in the District Council elections on 3rd May."
Originally from Cheshire he will be moving to the constituency imminently and he will be joined by fiancée Jacqui, a former pupil of Alton Convent, after their wedding in the summer.
