In West Sussex, Rogate Primary School and Camelsdale Primary School in Haslemere are also closed.

As are Compton and Upmarden Primary, Fernhurst Primary, Harting and Hollycombe Primary.

As well as schools, other services were forced to close today due to the weather conditions.

The household recycling centre in Bedford Road, Petersfield, was closed to the public and the front desk at Alton Police Station was also closed.

Mill Chase Leisure Centre was also closed for a time this morning.

The South Central Ambulance Service was urging people to stay at home to reduce the number of injuries caused by the snow and ice.

A spokesman for the service said all of their available staff were out on the road responding to emergency calls and 4x4 vehicles were also in use to ensure staff could still reach all parts of the district.
