SCORES of families joined in Clanfield’s Christmas carol service round the pond, with people of all ages singing their hearts out by torchlight.
Despite the rain, the festive spirit shone through.
The service was conducted by Canon Gill Hill, with music provided by the Salvation Army and Clanfield Junior School.
Some of those enjoying the evening were Derren and Kerry Chamberlain and their two children, Lauren (six) and Freya (three).
Mr Chamberlain, who lives in Waterlooville but grew up in Clanfield, said: “It was great – it was all the community coming together.
“It took you back to your childhood away from the hectic lives we all lead, and really got us in the mood for Christmas.”
The event has become a popular fixture on the calendar since the pond, situated just off Chalton Lane, was restored.
