ONLY weeks after previous headteacher Jackie Adams resigned from Mill Chase Community Technology College, the leadership of the school was in difficulties again when her temporary replacement was taken seriously ill.
When Mrs Adams left unexpectedly at the start of the spring term, citing “personal reasons” after four years at the helm of the Bordon school, the governors asked Geoff Walls to move from his position as vice-principal at Havant Academy to take over the headship until a new permanent head could be appointed.
A statement released by the chairman of the school governors, Christine Thompson, said that after his first week at Mill Chase Mr Walls became ill and would not be well enough to return.
For the remainder of January, the school’s deputy heads, Mr S Gillespie and Mr J Dalloway, had taken over joint responsibility for running the school.
Now, though, until Easter, the headteacher of Amery Hill School in Alton, Stephen Crabtree will be interim head on a four-day secondment.
He says he will be supporting the work of governors and staff in the week ahead.
This is the second time Mr Crabtree has been asked to undertake an emergency headship.
