Hats off to group’s plan for tea and cricket

COLOURING Clanfield says after the success of last year’s Jubilee party, a similar two-day event is planned for this summer.

The charity plans to hold a cricket tournament and mad hatters tea party on June 1 and 2 in South Lane Meadow, which was packed for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.

Colouring Clanfield (CC) spokesman Olwen Butler said: “So many people said afterwards how much they enjoyed themselves, we decided to hold a similar event this year, but without a royal theme.

“On the Saturday there will be a tea party for families, and on Sunday the popular cricket tournament.”

The members of CC, who set up the group to “add a little colour to village life,” say it is growing slowly.

Olwin said: “We are also looking to give out some of the money raised so far to local groups.” Visit www.clouringclanfield.org.uk
