Heavy snow brings plenty of problems to East Hampshire’s roads
THE HEAVY snowfall has brought travel problems across East Hampshire this morning.
Delays have been reported on the A3 and A3(M) between Butser Hill and the A27 at Bedhampton, with one motorist saying it took her around two hours to travel between Waterlooville and Horndean.
There have also been problems on the A31 at Four Marks and Ropley and traffic queues on the A325 between Bordon and Farnham throughout the morning.
Snow was causing delays on the A272 at Cheriton and also on the A32 near the Tisteds.
Driving conditions have been very difficult across the district throughout the morning and police have been advising motorists not to venture out unless their journey is absolutely necessary.
It appears that drivers have taken notice of the warnings with many routes far quieter than normal during the morning rush hour. The streets around Petersfield town centre were very quiet, especially as the town’s schools were closed for the day.
Bus services across the area were reported to be running but with delays. The number 67 route between Petersfield, Alresford and Winchester was suspended this morning due to the conditions.
Train services appear to be coping well with the conditions. South West Trains is running a revised timetable throughout the day and services through Petersfield railway station are running without delays.
