Post is going to get even better thanks to our loyal readers
THE COUNTDOWN is under way for the launch of the new-look Petersfield Post and Bordon Post – and it is a new look which our loyal readers have helped to shape.
We have asked you what you like and don’t like about East Hampshire’s biggest selling local newspaper and what new things you would like to see added to your favourite weekly read.
After analysing those comments we are introducing some new ideas to the paper and a new running order which will make your favourite local newspaper easier to read.
One thing readers were very keen to see was a dedicated weekly nostalgia column. The good news is there will be a full page of nostalgia in every edition of the Post.
We will be doubling the size of the letters page to two pages every week so that we can publish more of your letters – each with their own headline – more readers’ pictures and more of your entries to our popular Read Around The World competition.
The new-look entertainments guide will include more details of events happening in East Hampshire than ever before and those readers who love their puzzles will be pleased to see a new puzzles page being introduced, with improved crosswords and su dokus to solve, as well as a range of new puzzles to try.
Other new features will include a weekly column from the editor and a weather forecast for the week ahead.
The things that you told us you loved already will all be retained. These include in depth news coverage of Petersfield and Bordon, two pages of news every week for the area south of Butser Hill, Liss and Liphook and one dedicated to the areas west of Petersfield, a property section and planning applications, a TV guide, public announcements page and six pages of the best sports coverage you will find in East Hampshire.
If all of this wasn’t enough, the Post will also be undergoing a redesign to give it a fresh and easy to read new look.
Editor Graeme Moir is looking forward to relaunch day, which will be October 10.
He added: “We have listened to what our readers have told us and I hope the relaunched version of the Post will be an even more enjoyable read for our loyal readers.
“Most people were largely happy with the Post as it is but there were specific things they were looking for to make the paper better – nostalgia and an improved letters page were high on the list.
“We already offer an unrivalled news, sport and information service on East Hampshire and that is about to get even better.
“I look forward to sharing with you the new-look Post and please let me know what you think so we can keep on improving the best local newspaper in the area.”
Readers should also look out for some special offers and competitions coming up in the next few weeks which will be celebrating the relaunch of the Petersfield Post and Bordon Post. The newspaper series has been serving the East Hampshire community for the last 129 years.
A vastly improved internet service will also be launched, offering news as it happens with daily website updates.
