Scarecrows to launch Good Life project
FAMILIES are being invited to take part in a scarecrow making workshop in Petersfield to launch a new community garden.
The scarecrow making will concide with a farmers’ market in The Square, and afterward the effigies will be displayed at the opening of the Community Garden on the new Adhurst Estate allotments, in Waterworks Road, on the edge of Sheet.
Community garden spokesman Claire Francis said: “The Good Life Community Garden and Education Project is a partnership run as a social enterprise.
Its aim is to provide social and educational activities based around the enjoyment of sustainable food production and activities for a healthy and happy lifestyle.
“We will be inviting people to get involved in designing, developing and maintaining the garden, about a quarter the size of a football pitch, based on three ethics, earth share, people care and fair shares.”
The scarecrow making is on Sunday, October 7, outside Lloyds Bank, and the community garden opening is on Sunday, October 14, from 2pm to 5pm.
