Wilkinson offers a Helping Hand

Team members at the Wilkinson store in the Forest Centre are offering a helping hand to community groups and charities in the area which need extra support with local projects.

Whether the project benefits young people, families or elderly residents, Wilkinsons is appealing to anyone who is passionate about their local community to get involved and apply for a grant.

Not only can groups in the Bordon area apply to the store for cash to further their projects, they can also ask for practical help.

Wilkinsons’ products can be made available for raffle prizes or materials for specific tasks. Team members can even volunteer their time to help.

Staff are keen to roll up their sleeves to support community schemes.

Store manager at Wilkinson in Bordon Steve Winkles said: “The Helping Hands scheme is an initiative where funding is provided to support local projects, directly benefitting the lives of people who live and work close to the store.

“As a company, it’s great to be able to help local community groups and charities by giving something back to the area.

“Whether it’s seeds to help a community garden bloom or paint for a local animal shelter, we are able to help.”

Application forms can be collected from the store and once completed, they should be returned to the store’s help desk.

Successful applicants will be notified within three months of submission.

Wilkinsons group regularly supports charity initiatives throughout the country, both to help individuals and community groups of all sizes.

A family owned firm which has been trading for more than 80 years, JK Wilkinson opened the first store, in Charnwood Street, Leicester, in 1930. The company’s portfolio has expanded significantly in recent decades and there are currently 372 stores across the UK with more planned.
