Petersfield Res 0
PETERSFIELD Reserves crashed out of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup to a well-organised and passionate Eversley side.
Neither team took the game by the scruff of the neck in the first half hour, although Barry Keogh beat two ch
allenges and really should have scored but his his effort went right at the keeper.
Eversley punished this miss when they scored with what appeared to Petersfield to be a handball pushed into the net from a corner.
Soon afterwards it was 2-0 when a tame long-range effort hit Tiffin and sailed past the stranded Burt.
In the second half Town soon found themselves 4-0 down. They failed to fight back with any purpose or threat and continued to let in sloppy goals.
Eversley were full of running and continued to press forward taking their tally to eight.
Town Reserves manager Alex Bone said: "We were simply not good enough; they wanted it more than us and had the final product which we're lacking at the moment. If we do not cut out defensive errors then we will continue to leak soft goals."
Petersfield: Burt, Heath, Tiffin, Horrocks, (McCarthy), Pryce, Jays, Preece, (Mortimer), Martin, L Bray, (Sheehan), Keogh, Game.
