Three Counties

PETERSFIELD'S centenary year celebrations continued on Sunday with the visit of a high quality Three Counties Fellowship side to play a 'Centenary Match', with clubs from Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex being represented.

Out of the
four rinks games Petersfield won three but the visitors took the match 86-79. An enjoyable day was had by all with competitive bowls played in the right spirit. President of the Three

Counties Fellowship, Dave Allen, presented the club with a commemorative salver at the post-match dinner.

Rowledge 49 (3pts), Petersfield A 46 (2): A close game with Petersfield winning two rinks. Scores: L Denyer-Smith, A Pedder,C Pannell won,17-5; D Oliver, P Foulkes, A Sanders won, 16-12; J Randall, J Currell, R Gard lost, 22-13.

Petersfield B v Witley: Another good win for the B team, 53-44, and 3.5 points out of the five available. S Winser, S Paton, B Peake displayed fine form with a 19-6 win, leading throughout, but M Stothard, D Winser, M Paton lost narrowly 21-17, though coming back strongly after being nine shots down with only three ends to play. Their recovery inspired the final triple of R Purchase, J Salmon, R Bousher to achieve a memorable draw, being six shots behind with three ends to go, but getting back to a deficit of three for the final end. With the visitors holding shot Bousher produced the final bowl of the evening to gain the three shots for a draw. Next game is away to Stedham B.

l Rogate A League lost to Stedham A 50-49, winning on two rinks and gaining two points.

Scores: D Windle, G Burgess, D Mann bt D Berry, C Hollingham, T Berry, 24-8; N Anderson, M Buse, S Newman bt P Bennett, M Knight, R Turner, 16-11; R Goodes, I Hayes, B Ferkins lost to G Glazebrook, T West, P Cowell, 31-9.

Rogate B League lost to Weyburn B 36-64.

Scores: S Simons, D Simons, P Albury lost to A Newman, J Denyer, M Cairn, 20-14; P Luff, J Clasby, B Clasby lost to C Nash, K Kay, M Clark, 16-10; M Hearn, T Hearn, M Collins lost to E Keen, J Donijam, A Izzo, 28-6.

Rogate lost their friendly match against Sutton 65-68.

Scores: K Mullard, R Dowsett, G Burgess bt R Berry, M Lowman, A Elliott, 23-13; B Albery, F McQuillin, D Windle lost to T Johnson, D Berry, J Lowes, 19-16; A Mansell, J Collins, J Andrews lost to C Dearlove, D Lowes, M Murkin, 17-14; M Hull, P Albery, L Hayes lost to J Coombes, M Berry, G Elliott, 19-13.

Rogate lost a friendly against Chichester 75-58.

Scores: D Simonds, J Clasby, D Windle bt J Jones, T Hales, C Porter, 22-12; S Cummins, J Collins, B Clasby lost to D Gray, M Field, J Heasman, 14-13; S Simonds, J Andrews, D Burgess lost to M Hales, Y Mitchell, P Wale, 25-12; C Cummins, L Hayes, B Ferkins lost to M Johnson, S Beverstock, M Bayfield, 24-11.

Pairs Day was won by Jean Clasby and Sid Newman; Roger Goodes and Nick Anderton. Both pairs will play off on finals day. Nineteen members took part and £42 was raised for the clubhouse fund.
