Buriton 105, Hawkley 106-5: Buriton were first into bat in this inaugural fixture between the two village sides.
The Hawkley seam attack quickly found the humid, overcast conditions conducive to swing bowling as runs were hard to come by and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Buriton's middle order put up more resistance against the first change bowlers, Durrent, Bradley and Francis all scoring useful runs, and helping Buriton past the hundred mark.

Todd, Mullard, Dunstand and Batten captured two wickets apiece.

In reply Hawkley lost McLean early on, but Chris Head and Henry Batten (69no) batted well together and the score quickly mounted.

Hawkley scored the winning runs in the 22nd over for the loss of five wickets.

(at Elsted)

Falling Leaves 229-6

Elsted 215-7

Falling Leaves batted first and got off to a confident start with Green racing to 33 before Robert Norris had him caught.

Conway and Metz carried on scoring freely against the under-strength Elsted bowling attack, adding 46 runs before Metz was dismissed for 22.

The score rattled along at a fair rate before Conway was caught at 109.

After their allotted 36 overs Falling Leaves had amassed 229-6. Terry Wadey was the most successful bowler taking 2-23.

Elsted had a big setback when Robert Norris was caught for nine but Kev Chapman and Terry Wadey added 55 runs before Terry Wadey was stumped for 29. Andy Wadey had a cautious start but opened up with a succession of boundaries.

Elsted lost a highly entertaining match by 14 runs.
