Liphook v Rowledge
LIPHOOK entertained first-placed Rowledge on Saturday hopeful of a win to push them out of the relegation dogfight with Havant in Southern Premier Division 2.

Unfortunately, despite a creditable fight back with the bat after being 86-5, inspired b
y Duncan Berry (55*) with another undefeated innings, and some fine bowling by David Winter (5-38) in particular, Liphook fell to a gut-wrenching one-wicket defeat and must look to win their last two games of the season if they are not to suffer a second relegation in three years.

It was a fine performance by Liphook and gives them at least some hope of avoiding relegation especially with Gay, Whealey and Young all back for Saturday's visit to Lymington

Scores: Liphook 174, Rowledge 175-9.

Easebourne v Old Alresford

WITH FOUR regular players unavailable, Old Alresford knew they would be in for a hard match against Easebourne who were bracketed with them in the league table.

Unfortunately they dropped Leon Fouire before he had reached double figures and he went on to make 97. Steve Purnell and Dave Stanbrook each took three wickets but other bowlers were expensive and the hosts progressed to 234-8.

In reply, the visitors had only reached 42 in the first 12 overs and had lost four wickets. At this point Ian Snellgrove joined Dave Stanbrook and the pair put on 94.

A run out accounted for Snellgrove on 48. Stanbrook made 71 and he was sixth out with the total on 155. The final wickets fell in the space of six balls without addition and Old Alresford fell 79 runs short.
