A DEVASTATING spell of new ball bowling by Will Marks, which included a hat-trick, led Headley to a crushing 168-run victory over Badshot Lea.
The young paceman could only bowl a seven-over spell, but with Badshot Lea chasing a total of 236 for vi
ctory, he made it count by taking the first six Badshot Lea wickets to fall for just 16. Backed up by fine catching behind the stumps, he had taken three wickets when he came to bowl his sixth over and proved too good for Gray, Turner and Scanlon as he claimed a fine hat-trick.
Badshot Lea had no way back from 25-6 and the rest of the Headley attack worked their way through the batting to dismiss their hosts for 67 and claim maximum points.
Earlier, Headley had looked untroubled as Ashley Cook (50) and Ciaran Rooney (35) built a steady opening partnership. Headley lost some wickets in mid innings, but Dom Nott (29) calmed things and Tim Salm then muscled his way to a fine 68 which included four sixes, bringing a declaration at 235-6 after 42 overs.
Bosham v Old Hambledonians
OLD HAMBLEDONIANS posted 193-8 from their 42 overs, thanks largely to Clarke (54) and Alsop (56).
Duncan Barratt bowled Alsop and then had Clarke caught at mid-off by Mark Allen.
In reply, Nick Outram (106*) led a successful run chase, supported well by Mark Allen (30) and David Goodman (27).
