HORNDEAN, currently third from bottom in the Wessex Premier Division, did themselves a powerful favour when they managed to restrict fourth-placed Brockenhurst to a 0-0 draw in a tight game at Five Heads Park on Saturday.

In fact, Deans manager Ne
il McNamara thought his team could easily have won the game.

"I would have taken a draw before we started but it could easily have been three points," said McNamara.

The best three chances of the match fell to Horndean who fielded a full-strength side. In the first half, Osume Drame missed a one-on-one chance with the Brockenhurst keeper. For the remainder of the half scoring attempts were restricted to long-range shots from both sides that came to nothing.

After the break, Drame missed another chance to put Deans ahead, again from a one-on-one with the keeper.

Callum Laycock was brought on as substitute and right at the death he fired an effort against a defender on the line with the keeper beaten.

McNamara added: "We had the better chances and our keeper Steve Ballard didn't have a lot to do.

"It was nice to keep a clean sheet."
