Gardeners in the Meon Valley area are in for a double treat later this month.
Not only will they be able to enjoy the gardens at Hinton Ampner but they will also be able to find out the inside story of the creation of the National Memorial Arboretum.

David Childs, who was in the Royal Navy before his retirement, obtained disused gravel pits in Staffordshire to turn into 150 acres of trees and memorials dedicated to all those service personnel who lost their lives in the Second World War.

His talk 'Growing Remembrance' will give a fascinating insight into the project, during the special evening at Hinton Ampner, near Bramdean, on April 23.

Before the discussion, visitors will be able to enjoy the gardens at the National Trust venue from 6pm while enjoying a glass of wine, included in the ticket price of £15.

The proceeds of a raffle will go towards maintenance of the ancient parish church of All Saints in Hinton Ampner.

For more information and to book tickets contact David Templeman on 01962 793009.
