Five-year-old Summer Jones has been caught up in the fishing bug – hook, line and sinker.
Summer, who lives in East Meon, took up the sport when she was just four years old.
Her natural feel for fly fishing has just won her second place in the final of the national Junior Troutmasters Fish Off competition, which was held at East Meon Springs Fishery.
She gained the accolade by catching two trout in 50 minutes, which weighed in at a gross weight of 7lbs 2ozs.
She caught the two rainbow trout with a red, bloodworm fly.
Her mum, Shelli, said: "Summer did very well.
"It was a windy day and quite hard fishing for her, but she enjoyed it and was only beaten by a 14-year-old lad."
Shelli added: "We are all so proud of her and she was treated to a McDonald's afterwards as a reward!"
Summer's interest in fishing "came out of the blue" just over a year ago, when she pestered her parents to organise lessons in fly fishing at the East Meon Springs Fishery.
She is now adept at overhead casting and roll casting and is beginning to learn the art of jump casting.
To develop her talent, Summer is allowed two afternoons off school each week.
This time is taken from her creative and physical lessons, so as not to disrupt her education.
