JUST six days after a cash machine was installed outside a village’s convenience store, audacious thieves pulled it out of the wall.

The raid on the Taylor-Green’s Spar shop at Elmfield Court, Lindford, took less than five minutes – all of which was captured on the building’s security cameras.

Just after 2.20am on Sunday, at least three men used a telehandler tractor to smash part of a wall, pull the cash machine out and put it into the back of a dark coloured pick-up vehicle.

The telehandler, which had been stolen earlier that night from Churt Road, Headley, was left at the scene.

Store owners Julian and Jackie Taylor-Green were left frustrated by the incident, with the force of the impact causing severe damage to the inside of the building, including the loss of their office space.

Julian said: “From a business perspective, it is unbelievably frustrating. We put in the exterior cashpoint as a community service since Lloyds closed in Bordon.

“Our Post Office remains open but it can only handle cards not cash because we do not have a secure area now.

“We are grateful to our staff who rallied round and we were open for business as usual on?Monday.

“Also to Barry Medlicott, of First Choice Roofing, who was here at 4.30am to start repairs.”

Detective Constable Jo Martindale said: “We’d like to speak to anyone who has any information about the ram raid incident or the theft of the telehandler.”
