From Lizard Stressers to Trojan Horses, worms and zombies, what do you need to do to ensure your business is cyber secure and protected from fraud, viruses and hacking?

Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Hayes, will be jointly hosting a cyber crime breakfast meeting at Hampshire Constabulary Training Headquarters in Netley on Tuesday, September 15.

The event, which is being run in association with Hampshire Constabulary and the Federation of Small Business, aims to help businesses improve their cyber security, recognise threats to their businesses and clients, and make sense of the jargon.

Simon Hayes said: “The frequency and severity of cyber attacks are escalating, as criminals increasingly exploit the anonymity, and speed of the internet.

"The fact that 90 per cent of large businesses and 74 per cent of small and medium-sized businesses have reported that they have suffered an information security breach demonstrates that every organisation needs to consider how they defend themselves against the cyber threats they face.”

The cyber crime breakfast meeting is part of a wider strategy that aims to raise awareness of business crime and its effects, and to propose ways to reduce the problems, through practical measures and partnership working.

Delegates attending the event will hear from two keynote speakers covering different aspects of cyber crime: Kayti Harvey, IT Security Officer at Airbus Defence and Space, whose session is titled ’Effective Cyber Security Foundations: Do you wonder if you are effectively protecting your business from cyber threats?’

Steve Proffitt, Deputy Head and Performance Manager at Action Fraud who will focus on online retail fraud and protecting against mandate fraud and telephone fraud.
