TWO MEN have been jailed following incidents where car windows were smashed along the A272 between June and September.

In 35 incidents, they damaged cars between Petersfield and Langrish and smashed the window of the White Rose car showroom at Stroud.

Alec Hammerton (43) of Fieldmere Close, Witney in Oxfordshire, and Damon Jennings (44) of Manorfields Road in Milton Keynes, were sentenced to eight months in prison at Winchester Crown Court on January 21 after pleading guilty to conspiring to commit criminal damage.

Police staff investigator Karen Slade said: “This has had a devastating effect. Some residents felt they were being individually targeted as their vehicles were damaged on multiple occasions, and some residents considered moving.

“I am very pleased the seriousness of these crimes has been reflected in the sentences. I would like to thank the victims as their involvement was key to catching both men.”
